Reap what you Sow

The time of year has come for the "first harvest."  I call it that only because this is our first harvest of the 2009 season starting with wheat and oats.  Our second harvest will be when the corn is ready at the first part of August.  We have been having a bit of difficulty so far getting the wheat cut because it seems that wherever the combine is parked the rains come to it.  Today Jerry was able to cut the field right next to the house so Me, Wyatt, Lily & Adele were able to ride along with him.  Personally this was my first time in a combine and it was pretty neat to see how it all works.  For the twins, well it lulled them right to sleep, and Wyatt was asking Jerry every question in the book.  Now if you remember what the field looked like when it was first coming up back at the first part of March...............................................

Now this is what it matured to be, "Amber waves of grain," as they say.

The corn has started to tassel.
