Wyatt had his last game of regular season play this past Thursday, and they won....30-3. They will have a play-in game this next Thursday to see if we make it into the play-offs. At ages 5 & 6 most don't know the concept of playoffs and if we win we go on and loose we are done. There is one boy who things that the "red team," which is us, wins every game. So, it is hard to say whether or not they get it. As for us parents well, we get it for sure. I really thought it would be hard to sit back and just watch a game without trying to do "the coaching" from the bleachers. But, as I recall from growing up we hated the coaches in the stands plus the attention span of most of the kids is about that of a gnat so when they hear 14 people all saying something different they just have that deer in the headlights look on their face, my child especially. I did ask him after one game (like game 3 or 4) why when you stop the ball you just stand there and hold it like you don't know what to do with it? And his response was I am trying to hear coach Jason and I can't because of everyone else yelling. I asked him like who and he said the kids on the field and all the grownups. This put it in major perspective for me that the quieter "we" are the better the kids can hear what their coach actually wants them to do with the ball. However, it is still really hard not to say something.
