Sausage Day 2010

My husband's family tries every year to make their family recipe of sausage. It is some of the best sausage that I have every had and we will more than likely go through the 153 pounds that we got before we are able to make more. There is a lot of love and time that goes into making this sausage from cleaning the shop, getting the meat, cooking the garlic and getting all the spices weighed out to the exact measurement, getting the tables, the wood for the smoke house, and lastly getting all of us together for all the hands it takes to get out 940 pounds of sausage in one day. Wow, did I miss anything. Enjoy the pictures below I took them as the day was going on and the process that The Drews' Family has used for generations.

Preparations the night before, in a squeaky clean shop.

6am Cutters

48# Lug of meat waiting to be seasoned.

Final Mixing of the ground meat before stuffing.

Wyatt & Zane trying their skills at the grinder.

Wyatt is the next generation of future Sausage Makers

Packing the Smoke house

How many do you think it is? This was around 549# put into the smoke house

The last step....Wrapping for the freezer.
