Hurricane Ike finally reached the texas coast around 2.15am on Saturday Morning. Us here in central Texas are feeling the effects of Ike, but nothing like what they have and are experiencing in the Houston Area. We have had the winds up to about 40-50 mph gusts and some rain. I really don't know how much more we will be effected since Ike has taken a more due north track to the east of I-45.
My parents live in Katy and they decided to stay and tough out Ike. The Hurricane itself was not bad for them on the west side of Houston. The winds did however get up there 60-80 mph or so. Mom and Dad only suffered as of this morning damage to the north side of the barn, small tree limbs down and the loss of power. They don't know when power will be restored, but the word going around on the news is that some places could be up to 2 weeks. I sure hope that is not the case for them. I will get some pictures from down there at moms house as soon as she can get them to me. I just hope everyone else is ok an safe.
